Master of Counselor Education – Clinical Mental Health Specialization in collaboration with SDSU, USD will deliver a 60-hour Clinical Mental Health Counseling option starting May 2010. This cohort is designed to reach those individuals who may be working in counseling related settings who desire a graduate degree in counseling. The courses are scheduled for delivery one night a week for approximately 4 years. The MA in Counseling with the Clinical Mental Health specialization is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP) under the 2001 standards for Community Counseling. The accreditation runs until March 31, 2016. The CACREP 2009 standards combine the Community Counseling and Mental Health Counseling standards into standards for Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. The counseling program intends to seek accreditation for this program as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program when it comes up for reaccreditation, per CACREP guidelines.

B.S. Respiratory Care is an allied health profession in which Respiratory Therapists (RTs) specialize in the assessment and treatment of respiratory and cardiovascular pathologies. RTs are specialists in airway management, mechanical ventilation, blood acid/base balance, and critical care medicine. They work closely with other medical disciplines such as physicians, nurses, physical therapists, etc.

B.S. Sociology is a broad field which includes the study of cultures and how groups of people function within society. Career opportunities for the sociologists include careers in social service, human resources, criminal justice agencies, government, community planning, and jobs working with the elderly, youth and families at risk, and victims of domestic violence.

A.S. Tourism and Hospitality Management combines a liberal arts foundation in natural science, social science, arts and humanities, speech, mathematics, and English; a business core in accounting, management, computer applications, and marketing; and a tourism and hospitality management specialization involving courses on introductory tourism and hospitality concepts and issues; convention, meetings, and event planning; restaurant management; and lodging management. A professional internship is also required. In addition, students must take seven credits of unrestricted electives and nine credits of restricted electives in accounting, advertising, economics, tourism management, and/or tourism planning and development.
