Develop the abilities to plan, organize, manage, problem-solve and communicate effectively within multiple sectors.
The Consumer Affairs major from SDSU gives students the skills to handle interactions in the marketplace and public sector. In the program, students analyze business trends, identify family financial concerns, and design public relations and marketing strategies. Students will also learn to identify the need for new products, coordinate product promotion and plan meetings. Conducting financial planning, counseling, and educational sessions may also be integrated into the program.
The major offers Family Financial Planning and Resource Management as two areas of specialization. The Family Financial Planning emphasis prepares students to assist families in their personal financial planning. The Resource Management major prepares students to facilitate the relationship between business and consumers.
The Consumer Affairs program emphasizes professional behavior and workplace leadership, and these skills are tested in the program's internship. After completing the degree, students are prepared to pursue careers in public relations, event planning, promotions and other related fields.
