Applying for Financial Aid
Getting Started
Students interested in applying for financial aid need to meet specific conditions and process the appropriate forms before financial aid eligibility can be determined. If you are applying for financial aid, it is necessary for you to be admitted to a degree program with one of the universities.
- Your combined course registration from USD, SDSU, DSU, NSU and BHSU will be used to evaluate your full-time or part-time financial aid status.
- Your home university will be coordinator of financial aid. You may enroll in classes from all universities; however, your financial aid will be awarded through your home university. Your home school code will be used on the FAFSA.
It is necessary to apply for financial aid each year. Delay in filing your application for financial aid may result in a delay in receiving funds prior to classes beginning. If this occurs, students are responsible for having alternative funds available in order to make payment.
Because the financial aid process involves several steps, it is important to allow six to eight weeks to complete the process. Start by completing the FAFSA form online at www.fafsa.gov.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Vikki Van Hull, University Center's Financial Aid Advisor, or your home university financial aid department.
