AS Business Management

AS Health Information Technology
A.S. Health Information Technology prepares students to serve as entry-level health information/medical records professionals in hospitals, clinics, and other health facilities and agencies. These graduates perform technical duties vital to the operation of a medical record department in any health care facility. This degree program has the added benefit of being the first step toward a 4-year degree in health information administration (B.S. in HIA). The A.S. Health Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

AS Network and System Administration
The Associate of Science degree in Network and System Administration will provide graduates with a background in computer networking and theory. It is a subset of the curriculum for the B.S. degree program and constitutes the first stage in a 2+2 program. Graduates will have the skills necessary to work with information technology infrastructure required to in today’s businesses, with job titles that include as system administrator, systems analyst, network analyst, network application developer, and technical consultants.
AS Respiratory Care
A.S. Respiratory Care focuses on the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, education, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system as well as on the prevention of the development of these deficiencies. Career opportunities exist in a wide variety of health care facilities or in scientific environments. This degree program has the added benefit of being the first step toward a 4-year degree in respiratory care (B.S. in RC).
AS Software Development
A.S. Software will prepare students in a wide range of careers including education, business and industry, management, social and human services, corporate and non-profit organizations. AS Web Development
Associate of Science in Web Development
Learn how to develop, modify and maintain general software applications or specialized software with our associate degree in web development.
You want to study web development but you don’t want—or can’t afford—to study for four years? Our associate’s degree is a good option to obtain the knowledge necessary for an entry-level position in the field. You’ll learn the basics in the development, modification and maintenance of general software applications that will allow you to get to work sooner. And if you decide later that you want to continue your education, your bachelor’s degree in computer information systems will build on your associate’s degree without requiring you to retake classes.

BGS General Studies
The Bachelor of General Studies degree is intended to accommodate students with a variety of career goals. It is an important option for students who have accumulated significant college credit and who want to complete a baccalaureate degree. But, it is also a viable choice for students who are interested in building their own degree program, to coincide with their career plans and interests. Students are required to complete general education requirements plus 45 credits in three areas of emphasis (15 credits in each area) selected by the student: allied health, business, education, fine arts, humanities, social sciences, wellness, technology and other STEM disciplines (science, engineering, math). Specific coursework in the three areas of emphasis is selected by the student; additional credits for graduation can be selected from any discipline.

BS Health Information Administration
B.S. Health Information Administration prepares students with the administrative knowledge and skills, as well as the technical skills, necessary for a health information/medical records professional in a variety of health care facilities and agencies. Graduates are qualified to serve as entry level health information administrators, who are responsible for the management of health information systems consistent with medical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements of the health care delivery system. HIM professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the healthcare industry including hospitals, physician offices and clinics, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, government agencies and home care providers. The B.S. Health Information Administration program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

BS Respiratory Care
B.S. Respiratory Care is an allied health profession in which Respiratory Therapists (RTs) specialize in the assessment and treatment of respiratory and cardiovascular pathologies. RTs are specialists in airway management, mechanical ventilation, blood acid/base balance, and critical care medicine. They work closely with other medical disciplines such as physicians, nurses, physical therapists, etc.

Certificate: Health Care Coding
Certificate: Health Care Coding prepares students with entry-level skills needed to code, classify, and index diagnoses and procedures for the purpose of reimbursement, standardization, retrieval and statistical analysis. Principles in ICD-9-CM coding, CPT coding, and third-party reimbursement is emphasized. The courses within the Health Care Coding Certificate program are also applicable to the A.S. in Health Information Technology and the B.S. in Health Information Administration and students may wish to progress into those programs. The Health Care Coding Certificate program is approved by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

D.Sc. Doctor of Science in Information Systems
D.Sc. Doctor of Science in Information Systems is designed to prepare individuals for careers in research, teaching, and corporate employment. This program emphasizes applied scholarship, focusing on multi-disciplinary research projects with a strong emphasis on the productive application of information systems and information technology to organizations and their management. The program supports a thriving and sustained applied research program that meets the research needs of the State of South Dakota, the university, and its graduate students. The degree program is intended to produce graduates with a commanding knowledge of information systems and of applications and research in information systems.

MBA Master in Business Administration
The Master of Business Administration – Hybrid Delivery focuses on general management with an information technology focus. It is intended for entry-level and lower-middle managers (with or without an undergraduate degree in business administration) who are interested in improving their business expertise and who are planning for career advancement or career change. The curriculum focuses on decision-making, finance, ethics, leadership and information technology and will be delivered where classes meet one night per week for 8 weeks in Sioux Falls at University Center with the remaining class time offered online.
