Science & Technology Classroom Building (FSC1)
The Science & Technology Classroom Building, located at 4701 N Career Ave Sioux Falls SD 57107, at University Center has been awarded LEED Silver Certification. Architecture Incorporated, the architect for the building, presented plaques to University Center, the building design teams, and the Construction Manager recognizing their respective roles in the project: "Architecture Incorporated prides itself on delivering unique solutions to challenging projects by meeting and exceeding the needs of the client," said architect Elizabeth Squyer, AIA. "Achieving LEED Silver certification required a collaborative effort between the architect, engineers, owner, building users and contractor. This effort began early in the design process and established a road map to attaining certification while delivering successful spaces and systems to support the needs of the building's users on a daily basis." The Science & Technology Building at UC achieved LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. By using less energy and water, LEED certified buildings save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community. LEED certification is established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute. For more information, visit their website at www.usgbc.org.
