Feeding South Dakota Food Drive

Location: UC Commons (Classroom Building)

The food pantry distributes food and other essential items directly to individuals in need. These facilities are generally small and serve smaller areas including neighborhoods and/or communities. Food pantries secure their items through food banks and/or local food drives. In most cases, individuals receiving items at food pantries must meet certain requirements. Feeding South Dakota operates two food pantries located in Rapid City and Sioux Falls. In 2012, Feeding South Dakota’s Rapid City Food Pantry provided over 740,000 pounds of grocery products, which fed more than 43,600 individuals with critical needs. At the same time, Feeding South Dakota’s Sioux Falls Food Pantry distributed 655,000 pounds of food which fed 37,500 individuals needing food assistance.
