ACCUPLACER Placement Test
Find Your Way With ACCUPLACER
To ensure that students are proficient in the skills necessary to successfully complete general education coursework, student competencies in reading, writing, and math are evaluated by ACCUPLACER. All incoming, degree-seeking students or students wishing to enroll in Math or English courses must provide valid placement scores. To be valid, the student must have taken a placement test within five years of the date of initial enrollment. The results of these assessments, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to place you in the appropriate college courses that meet your skill level.
For all students without valid ACT scores, the ACCUPLACER (computerized placement test) will be used to determine placement in Writing and Math courses. The ACCUPLACER tests (math, reading, and writing) are not timed and can be taken separately; however, if you are planning on taking all three tests in one session, you should schedule the ACCUPLACER test to allow yourself enough time to complete all three tests.

Receiving Results
Results of the ACCUPLACER exam are available immediately after the student completes the test(s). Students receive a placement report with their scores as well as specific course requirements based on the scores.
Cost of the ACCUPLACER Test
If a student is challenging a valid ACT score or previous valid ACCUPLACER score, he/she can take the ACCUPLACER test (just ONCE) in an attempt to earn a higher placement score with math, reading or English. In this event, the cost is $17.05 as it is considered a challenge to a previous valid score. The ACCUPLACER test is free if a student does not have a valid score (ACT/ACCUPLACER) or has never taken a placement test before.
