Through partnerships in our local community, University Center is able to offer thousands of dollars in scholarships to students every year. During selection, we look at your desire to learn and financial need – not just your GPA. Osher Reentry Scholarship (Click for Details)
Haven't attended a college/university in the past five years or more? The Osher Reentry Scholarship offers at least 20 individual scholarships for up to $3,000!
The Osher Reentry Scholarships supports degree-seeking adult students. This scholarship provides up to $3,000 for the academic year to at least 20 individual scholarship recipients. Preference may be given to applicants who are newly matriculating students and are between the ages of 25-50. Osher Reentry Scholars may be eligible to renew their scholarship in subsequent years.
Eligibility Requirements
- A full or part-time student seeking your first bachelor’s degree
- Taking at least one class face-to-face at University Center in Sioux Falls
- Have a cumulative gap in your education of five years or more
- Demonstration of Financial Aid via FAFSA results
Regental Investment Scholarship (Click for Details)
Students can receive half-off the self-support rate.
This scholarship is open to current University Center undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. It is awarded for a single year, but recipients are encouraged to re-apply the following year.

Donna Ohling Scholarship (Click for Details)
Are you a part-time (6cr minimum) student attending UC and at least 24-years-old? Apply today!
This scholarship is an endowment to honor the late Donna Ohling, a former training officer and beloved family member of the First National Bank in Sioux Falls. Donna was a student at University Center; this scholarship is designed for adult learners like her. Two scholarships up to $1,900 will be awarded. Preference may be given to employees of First National Bank in Sioux Falls.
Eligibility Requirements
- Non-traditional, part-time (6cr minimum) students aged 24+
- Enrolled in 6cr at University Center in awarding semester
- A maintained cumulative 2.0 GPA and a 67% Completion Rate to remain eligible
- Completion of the FAFSA
Service First Federal Credit Union Scholarship (Click for Details)
The Service First Scholarship awards $500 and is open to any and all students pursuing a UC degree.
This non-renewable scholarship for $500 is open to all UC students. In addition to completing a scholarship form, applicants whom the scholarship committee deems eligible may also be contacted to submit a brief essay about credit unions.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be registered for a minimum of 6cr at University Center in a given semester
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- A maintained cumulative 2.0 GPA and a 67% Completion Rate to remain eligible
- Completion of the FAFSA
Robert and Dr. Judy Nissen Scholarship (Click for Details)
This $500 scholarship award is designed to support adult learners 24 and older and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Preference is given to female applicants. Applicants must complete the Nissen Scholarship Form.
Robert and Dr. Judy Nissen valued education and were sensitive to the unique challenges women face in the workplace. At age 29, Dr. Judy Nissen was widowed with two little girls when she decided to go back to school and earn her Ph.D. She eventually became the Director of the Center for Public Education, which is now University Center. Dr. Nissen retired in 2001, but her commitment to adult education continues with this $500 scholarship.
Preference will be given to women; however, men who fit the eligibility criteria are welcome to apply. Selections are based heavily on career goals and financial need.

- Students age 24 and older
- Degree-seeking students
- Earning a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Demonstration of Financial Aid via FAFSA results
The application form for the Robert and Dr. Judy Nissen Scholarship is available through the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation around December 15. Typical application deadline is April 15 each year.

Citibank of South Dakota (Click for Details)
The possibility to have $750 applied toward semester costs could be available to you. Citibank's scholarship can be applied for each year!
Two scholarships are available for $750 each to be applied toward semester costs. Students can apply each academic year.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be registered for a minimum of 6cr at University Center in a given semester
- Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
- A maintained cumulative 2.0 GPA and a 67% Completion Rate to remain eligible
- Residency in the Sioux Falls and/or surrounding community
- Completion of the FAFSA
Note: Undergraduate students who are starting their education at University Center are given preference.
Sioux Falls Construction (Click for Details)
You don't have to work at Sioux Falls Construction to be eligible for this $450.00 scholarship! This scholarship can be applied for each semester.
Eligibility Requirements
- Undergraduate student (BA, BBA, BS, AA, or AS)
- Demonstration of Financial Aid via FAFSA results
- Satisfactory academic progress (Completion Rate of 67% or higher)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Minimum of 6 credits must be taken at University Center in awarding semester
Note: Preference is given to those who work for Sioux Falls Construction; however, anyone can apply who is eligible.

First Premier Bank | Premier BankCard (Click for Details)
Do you work for Premier Bank/Bankcard? How about $4,000 over a four year period?
You could be eligible for a scholarship to help you earn a degree with one of our partner institutions at University Center! Contact Premier Bank's Laurie Moeller in Human Resources at ext 4050 to express intent to apply for the First Premier Bank Scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements
- Demonstration of financial need via the FAFSA results
- Candidate must be a full-time or part-time student in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) at University Center
- Candidate must be employed by First PREMIER Bank or PREMIER Bankcard working a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Candidate must be employed for 90 days and be performing job duties at a “Satisfactory” rating prior to receiving the scholarship dollars
- Once a candidate has been awarded the scholarship, he or she is eligible to receive the scholarship the following year without additional application, provided eligibility requirements continue to be maintained
- Candidates may receive a maximum of $4,000 over a four-year period
First-Year Business Students (Click for Details)
Are you a business major in your 1st year of studies (24cr)? If so, you may be eligible to apply for a $2,500 scholarship!
Each year four $2,500 scholarships are granted by the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation to students who are Sioux Falls residents or who have completed at least one year of post-secondary work in a South Dakota institution that is accredited by the North Central Association.
Eligibility Requirements
- Live in or maintain residency in Lincoln or Minnehaha County — even though they may attend a schooloutside the area: or they must attend school in one of these two counties
- Attend a school accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement
- Fit one of the following categories:
- be enrolled full-time in a four-year college or university and have completed at least one year of undergraduate study
- be enrolled full-time in a graduate program
- be enrolled full-time in a two-year program at a vocational or technical school or community college and have completed at least one semester
- be enrolled full-time in a two-year program at a vocational or technical school or community college, have completed at least one year, and plan to continue studying at a four-year college or university. In this case, the award will be paid to the college or university upon proof of enrollment
- Be pursuing a degree in business
- Demonstrate understanding of the role of business in American society
- Demonstrate motivation and ability to succeed in their chosen field of study
- Demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement
